OPENING NEW AVENUES FOR THE AMERICAN VERSION OF AUSTRALIAN RULES FOOTBALL THROUGH THE USE OF AMERICAN PUBLIC ACCESS TELEVISION!
The American Footy Access Media Initiative (AFAMI) looks to increase the visibility of American-played Australian Football (and those who play it) through the use of American Public Access Television Channels and New Media. The AFAMI also looks to increase the visibility and usage of that important resource known as Local Cable Access Television through the use of these centers for the production and airing of matches between United States Australian Football League (USAFL) teams. By acting as a liaison between the USAFL (American Footy’s governing body) and the Alliance for Community Media (ACM - a national advocacy and leadership group representing the interests of Local Access Media Centers), the AFAMI looks to increase the viewer and talent base of the USAFL, as well as the volunteer and membership bases of ACM-member Access Centers. The AFAMI was founded by Bill Robert, longtime footy fan and Public Access professional. Bill’s program, “Stateside Footy”, has been seen in five states and is also available online at the program’s website: www.statesidefootytv.com.
