Vinyl Stew 02-Web    The music heard on Bill’s Vinyl Fantasy is an amalgam of New
Wave and classic rock mixed in with pop and soul tracks, all of which
come from the days when the vinyl record was the primary method
  of music distribution.
Most of the music you hear while listening to BVF has been taken
from the actual vinyl copies of the singles or albums on which the
songs appear. There are exceptions, and some of the selections are
taken from cassette or CD sources, but an effort is made to rely on
  those non-vinyl sources.

The music is broken up into categories, which are then distributed proportionally throughout each hour.
This is done to ensure a cleaner mix of music, without the same types of music clumped together. The
BVF music library is broken up into nine separate categories:
           -1980s-era Alternative/New Wave rock tracks
           -1980s-era Rock tracks
           -1980s-era Pop tracks
           -1970s-era Rock tracks
           -1970s-era Pop tracks
           -Rhythm & Blues/Soul tracks
-Oldies Rock tracks (rock tracks from 1955-1970)
-Deep album tracks (album tracks other than established singles)
-LateNite flavor tracks (lower-tempo music tracks with more of a late night “feel”)

BVF - Daytime Clock 01    The distribution of the various musical categories is handled through
the use of format clocks. A format clock is an illustration of the order of
musical categories to be used in a given hour and has been commonly
used in the programming of commercial radio stations (after all, I am an
  old school AM/FM radio guy...).
For the standard BVF broadcast stream off of the Live365 server, the
hourly clock arrangements are entered into music scheduling software.
The software then goes, hour by hour, picking songs by category and
building an evenly balanced playlist for the day. (You can also just upload
all your tracks and just have them shuffled at random, but I prefer to do it
this way to make sure certain categories don’t get played too heavily.)
The graphical version of this clock can be used for live programs such
as Vinyl Stew, in which the jock on the program (usually me) can reference
the clock in order to see what categories of music to line up at any given
  time.

The window below shows you the most recent songs played on Bill’s Vinyl Fantasy.
